I work with the potential that I might be a DOG
DOG solo performance is threaded with the physical workout of a gym and a text about ADHD. Based on his personal experience of being diagnosed with ADHD, Yaniv Cohen merges his addiction to training and his love for dance into an intimate and informative performance.
The audience sits around a set design of modular exercise machines. They witness the intentional practice of impossible multitasking taken up by the performer on stage. Muscular exercises and bodily sensitivity are woven together with a constant flow of text. Emanating from the life experience of ADHD, Yaniv plays with neurotypical rhythms, exploring the emotional spaces that open up through exhaustion of body and mind. The audience is invited to explore their own span of attention triggered by the hectic guy running the show. The work addresses themes such as self-image, shame, and cultural constructs of neurodivergent conditions.
